Neil Druckmann, the creator of The Last of Us and Last of Us Part II games, has finally addressed the continuing calls from fans for a third game in the series to be released.
The Last of Us Part III, according to speculations and claims that have been circulating in recent months, will be Naughty Dog’s next significant project.
As it turns out, Druckmann is fully aware that fans are clamoring for this game, even if Naughty Dog and others haven’t officially announced it at this point.
Druckmann was recently questioned by Kinda Funny regarding Naughty Dog’s upcoming big game and if The Last of Us Part III would be a possibility.
According to Druckmann, Naughty Dog has already chosen what its upcoming title will be.
Druckmann said he is aware that some fans want a new The Last of Us installment, even if he couldn’t yet disclose whether it’s coming or not.
He shared that “I know the fans really want The Last of Us Part III. I hear about it all the time. All that I can say is that, look, we are already into our next project. The decision has already been made. I cannot say what it is, but that is the process we went through, that there was a lot of consideration of different things and we picked the thing we were most excited for.”
It is already known that Naughty Dog is developing a multiplayer spin-off in the same universe as The Last of Us, regardless of the route the developer chooses to go in the future.
Naughty Dog has already given a quick preview of this game, and Druckmann has said explicitly that further information would be released later on this year.
In other words, even if The Last of Us Part III is not confirmed just yet, we do know that other titles in this franchise are set to arrive for the PS5.
