Nintendo Switch 2 Could Cost More Than Expected

You most probably read the title and uttered in your mind “Well, why am I not surprised?”. No surprises here, as politics affect every aspect of our lives, even if we like it or not. And no, it won’t stay away from gaming, either. It will gladly and baldly spoil all the fun for us if it gets the chance.

It became crystal clear back in January that all those rumors about Nintendo Switch 2 were right all along: the Japanese gaming giant is indeed launching a sequel for its highly-praised Switch that came out way back in 2017. Just a few days ago, the company even shed light when it comes to the specifications of Nintendo Switch 2: a maximum of 3840×2160 (4K) resolution at 60 fps (TV mode), 120 fps when 1920×1080/2560×1440 resolutions are selected, accelerometer, gyroscope, and mouse sensor being located in Joy-Con 2 controllers are just a few of the highlights.

How much will the Nintendo Switch 2 cost?

Nintendo Switch 2 will definitely come out in less than two months – on June 5, to be more precise. The news comes straight from Nintendo, so there’s no use in doubting it. The gadget won’t obviously be as cheap as chips, and neither will it actually cost an arm and a leg. We also knew that those living in the US who will be willing to get their hands on Nintendo Switch 2 will have to pay $449. But it may actually be a bit more complicated than that…
Here’s what a new report coming from DFC Intelligence has to say on the matter:

However, the announcement coincided with new U.S. tariffs, including a significant 24% tariff on Japanese goods, leading Nintendo to delay pre-orders initially scheduled for April 9 while it assessed the potential impact. The broader macroeconomic challenges facing the video game industry complicate pricing forecasts, with DFC modeling a 20% price increase over the next two years. We continue to work closely with game industry clients to prepare for various scenarios, and additional clarity is expected when Nintendo releases its earnings in May, at which time DFC will provide a comprehensive market update.

Otherwise, you definitely shouldn’t worry that there will be a massive shortage of games on your Nintendo Switch 2, if you plan on buying the forthcoming console.

If you’re a fan of fighting games, Nintendo has it covered for you once again, as Street Fighter 6 will be up and running on Switch 2! We can definitely expect to see Ryu’s kicks and combos looking more beautiful than ever!

Cyberpunk 2077 was the bee’s knees when it came out, and Nintendo knows it very well. There’s no wonder why the Japanese gaming giant decided to include the futuristic open world game for its Nintendo Switch 2 roster as well.

Elden Ring Tarnished Edition will also be available on Nintendo Switch 2, giving fans the chance to enjoy their favorite game in very relaxing settings, such as when they’re on the bus, in bed, or even at school if the teacher’s not watching them.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is also an interesting title that the happy owners of the Nintendo Switch 2 will get to enjoy on their new console. After all, what fan of the legendary Final Fantasy series doesn’t want to bring Cloud’s hair and feelings to a portable console? Just please don’t cry on the OLED, okay?

Those are just a few of the most important games that we will have the privilege of seeing them running on the Nintendo Switch 2 console. Most probably a lot more titles will be added gradually.

So yeah, you can always count on politics to ruin the day for you once again, but at least gaming will still be there to compensate!
