Oppenheimer Review by Cillian Murphy: “It’s going to knock people out!”

IMDb

Oppenheimer, the atomic bomb thriller directed by Christopher Nolan, is certain to leave an indelible mark on all of us. This one focuses on the significant contributions that theoretical physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer made to the Manhattan Project during World War II. It has also been led by one of the director’s regular collaborators, Cillian Murphy, who had previously worked with Nolan on the Dark Knight trilogy.

In a recent interview given in advance of the film’s debut, Murphy was questioned about whether or not he is content with the movie’s final version. And his response is really fantastic!

I am, yeah. I don’t like watching myself – it’s like, ‘Oh, f**king hell’ – but it’s an extraordinary piece of work. Very provocative and powerful.

One of the most impressive ensemble casts we have ever seen was put together by Nolan for his 12th feature film, Oppenheimer. Alongside Emily Blunt as Kitty Oppenheimer, Florence Pugh as Jean Tatlock, there goes Robert Downey Jr. as Lewis Strauss, chairman of the United States Atomic Energy Commission, Gary Oldman as Harry S. Truman, Matt Damon as Leslie Groves, Casey Affleck as Boris Pash, Kenneth Branagh as Niels Bohr, and Rami Malek as David Hill.

Murphy added:

It feels sometimes like a biopic, sometimes like a thriller, sometimes like a horror. It’s going to knock people out. What [Nolan] does with film, it f**ks you up a little bit.

It has come to light that the fast-paced nature of this Nolan project forced Murphy to lose track of both Murphy’s eating and sleeping schedules. But sometimes you have to do what it takes and go through all the ups and downs in order to shoot a masterpiece, right?!

Are you excited about Oppenheimer hitting theaters soon? If so, what are your expectations on Nolan’s work and cast?
