There are three years since we’ve last heard about Pacific Rim. Fans of the series are eager to learn updates about it, but it seems that director Guillermo del Torro doesn’t have any active plans regarding Pacific Rim 3.
The first movie of the series was launched in 2013.
The movie was based on a sci-fi story depicting Jaegers, which are huge robots.
The second part was launched three years ago, under the title Pacific Rim: Uprising.
The second movie got mixed responses from the audience.
It was enjoyed by many and criticized by some.
A while later, after the release of the second film, Steven S. DeKnight, the film’s director, also known as del Toro, hinted towards a new part of the movie. He mentioned some new ideas and also mentioned that he wants the whole team together to put his plans into action.
However, he didn’t elaborate on the subject, as he didn’t want to provide too much information regarding a possible third installment.
Plot
In terms of plot, it’s expected that we will get an overlapping storyline involving Pacific Rim and MonsterVerse.
On that subject, del Toro was firm by mentioning that this would certainly not be the plot of the third movie.
He also mentioned back then that he wasn’t planning on making a third movie set in the Pacific Rim universe.
That was a big disappointment for many Pacific Rim fans. There is so much that can be presented in a possible new movie.
The main reason why we think that we will get the third part is the fact that the second movie ended with many major cliffhangers and spurred confusion tales.
Also, we don’t know the fate of Mako Mori, our beloved character.
It seems like there is a lot of the story left to cover, but that would also mean that the movie would need vast quantities of money to be produced, which could lead to some box office issues, especially during a challenging period for the cinematic industry due to the ongoing pandemic.
However, we are certain that the second movie won’t mark the end of the Pacific Rim story. We believe that Netflix will soon announce a new entry into the franchise.
Pacific Rim: The Black is an original anime show, which will be somewhat of a sequel to the two past movies.
