Even if a PlayStation 5 is out of your price range, the PlayStation 4’s back catalog has already shown itself time and time again. Sony’s previous system had a large selection of games, both from the company’s own studio and from third parties. And there are a few titles in there that will go down in video game history as some of the best ever.

With the PS5’s backward compatibility, whether you’re fortunate enough to already have a PS4 with backward compatibility, or if you’re just getting started with a Sony system for the first time, we’re here to assist. You can check out our list of the top 28 PlayStation 4 games here.

  • God of war

While previous games in the series have relied heavily on combos, God of War incorporates a new, over-the-shoulder viewpoint and a loot system into its fighting. The game allows you to explore a variety of Norse mythical places, including the kingdom of Hel.

It’s a game that’s equal parts action and exploration, with a heartwarming plot to boot.

  • Diablo 3

Diablo 3 is a fantastic action RPG full of demons, heroes, and plenty of awesome gear. It’s even more surprising how well the console versions modified the original game’s mouse-and-keyboard controls to work with a controller.

Diablo 3’s narrative, or a slew of infinite activities, allows you to slaughter hordes of monsters with your unique powers. You’ll get better treasure drops, which will help you in your battle against demons. As you go through the game, the difficulty increases, as does the number of adversaries you must contend with. For as long as you kill creatures, you’ll ultimately be killed by the same monsters you’re killing. This is Diablo 3. Your objective is to get greater riches and then return to the creatures you just killed to exact your retribution.

  • Marvel’s Spider-man

From the Spider-Man 2 movie-tied in-game, Marvel’s Spider-Man takes and improves upon the spectacular high flying acrobatics. Open-world adventure Insomniac Games’ friendly neighborhood superhero offers you complete control of the friendly neighborhood superhero, with precise moves and assaults that seem like they’re right out of a comic book page.

Fortnite

In the past five years, Fortnite has become the de facto popular game, and with good reason. In addition to its popular battle royale mode, the game has hosted augmented reality concerts and blown up vast areas of its map during dramatic events.

  • Stardew Valley

In Stardew Valley, you take on the role of a newly inherited farm owner. In the course of establishing your new farm and cultivating crops over the course of the year, you’ll meet folks from a neighboring town. With time, you’ll discover a surprising amount of depth in your town’s residents.

  • Witcher 3

There is a lot going on in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, a big role-playing game chock full of epic mythology, great narrative, and layers upon layers of systems. If you’re looking for a game that will keep you entertained for a long time, this is it. Even in 2022, The Witcher 3 remains one of the best video games ever made. CD Projekt Red improved upon the rough aspects of the prior two Witcher games while creating this one’s fantastical storytelling. Even gamers who don’t often like fantasy games may get into the fantasy spirit with this title. However, it is also possible for it to be a challenging endeavor for seasoned role-playing game veterans who are looking to adjust the toxicity levels of their potions or search the area for magical armor.
