Dialga is one of the most popular ‘mon out there and the most powerful Legendary in Pokemon Go. Niantic has just confirmed the Pokemon’s return to 5-Star Raids, and we couldn’t be more excited.
And the best part is that Dialga will finally make its Shiny debut in Pokemon Go! With a high max CP, a fantastic dual Dragon/ Steel-type, and some sleek moves, Dialga sure knows how to slay.
We’ve compiled a list of Dialga’s weaknesses, moveset, how to catch it, and more.

Dialga’s Moveset
Dialga has 5 moves as a Raid Boss, from Dragon to Steel and Electric, including:
- Dragon Breath (Dragon)
- Draco Meteor (Dragon)
- Thunder (Electric)
- Iron Head (Steel)
- Metal Claw (Steel)
Dialga’s CP Range
You can catch the ‘mon with a range of 2217 to 2307 CP. But, you can upgrade that by using a weather boost, such as Snow or Windy, and get a range of 2771 to 2884 CP.
Dialga’s Weaknesses
Dialga is a Dragon/ Steel-type ‘mon, so its only weakness is the Ground and Fighting-type moves.
As for resistance, you should avoid Flying, Water, Psychic, Normal, Bug, Rock, Steel, and Electric. Dialga is also double resistant against Poison and Grass!
Dialga Counters
Any trainer should learn by heart Dialga’s counters to defeat the ‘mon and score a win. Below, there are some of the best counters you don’t have to miss:
- Garchomp: Mud Shot + Earth Power;
- Excadrill: Mud-Slap + Drill Run;
- Lucario: Counter + Aura Sphere;
- Rhyperior: Mud Slap + Earthquake;
- Groudon: Mud Shot + Earthquake;
- Hariyama: Counter + Dynamic Punch;
- Conkeldurr: Counter + Dynamic Punch.
Catch Dialga in Pokemon Go
You can only catch Dialga by defeating it in Raid Battle. The ‘mon will spawn in 5-Star Raids starting July 23 at 10 AM until August 6 at 10 AM (local time).
Remember that taking down Dialga will be challenging due to its incredible 533394 CP.
TIP: try to team up with 5 or 6 Trainers to defeat Dialga.
Shiny Dialga in Pokemon Go
Finding a Shiny Dialga will happen at random. If you want to catch one, first stock up on Raid Passes and defeat as many Dialga as you want!
