Throughout the famous Dragon Ball franchise, we’ve seen some good characters turning evil and some wrongdoers becoming good. We’ve even seen the almighty Goku becoming bad to the bone as a result of his body being stolen. It happened in Dragon Ball Z because of Captain Gyniu, and it occurred once again in Dragon Ball Super when Zamasu took over the Saiyan’s body.
But we’ve never seen an original form of Goku becoming evil. While it may sound completely impossible, given the long history of the beloved Saiyan as a good character and guardian of the Earth, it’s actually a feasible scenario in Dragon Ball Super when the anime returns.
Goku was supposed to be evil
To understand how such a wild scenario can happen, we have to look way back in Goku’s past. He’s a member of the Saiyan race, which was known as evil to the core. The Saiyans were nothing but planet invaders and conquerors. When Goku was a baby, he was showing signs of being an evil person. When Grandpa Gohan found him in a spaceship that crashed on Earth, Goku was a rascal kid. It wasn’t until our hero got hit on his head that he became the gentle, loving, and protective fellow that we all know.
The Dragon Ball Super anime will certainly come back at some point, and although it should continue with the adventures in the manga, there’s plenty of room for continuing the story in many ways.
Let’s not forget about time travel
Time travel plays a special part in the Dragon Ball universe, as it was exploited several times in great ways. Long story short: Goku from a different timeline, when he didn’t get hit on his head when he was a baby, will meet the Goku from the main timeline. As you’ve already guessed, the first Goku would be completely evil. Just try to imagine yourself what a menace Ultra Instinct Goku would be if he turns evil! There’s pretty much nothing in the Universe able to stop him!
The Goku Black arc from Dragon Ball Super was known as a major arc having time travel in its center. Future Trunks had to seek help this time from the Z warriors from another timeline to take down Goku Black, who was none other than Zamasu, a deity turning evil and who stole Goku’s body from a different timeline.
Another major period when time travel was at the center of the Dragon Ball franchise was back in Dragon Ball Z, shortly after Goku defeated Frieza on Namek. Future Trunks was the culprit once again, as he traveled back from the future to warn the Z warriors about the androids created by Dr. Gero. That marked the beginning of the Cell Saga, and time travel was presented once again when the most powerful android and also one of the strongest villains in Dragon Ball engaged into a time-lapse gimmick for gaining even more power.
It’s obvious that time travel can be used once again in Dragon Ball, and bringing a truly evil version of Goku and not just some copycat as it was in the case of Goku Black or Captain Gyniu, would surely be welcomed. The fans wanted to see an evil version of Goku for a lot of time.
The Dragon Ball writers have shown over the years that they don’t lack any imagination when it comes to creating thrilling and surprising plots. Goku was originally sent to Earth to destroy it, and that unseen version of the mighty hero surely deserves to be speculated. It’s obvious that evil Goku could be brought into the show at some point. The question is, who would be able to take down the evil version of Goku?
