For those who like the flexibility that programmable lighting provides, Microsoft is said to be working on a feature that would provide built-in RGB lighting settings to Windows 11. This feature, which is presently hidden in the latest version provided to Insiders in the Dev channel, will enable users to adjust the lighting effects of their connected devices from inside the Windows 11 Settings app.
Most manufacturers only support their own proprietary RGB lighting system, so if you want a completely integrated setup with lights, you’ll need to stick with products from the same manufacturer. It’s also an extra download, which is a pain in and of itself. If peripheral makers are prepared to embrace the idea, having these controls incorporated into Windows might greatly simplify matters. Some of these features are available in the Settings app beginning with Windows 11 build 25295, which was released this week to Insiders, but they are currently hidden. You may customize the color, brightness, speed, and intensity of the light. If you want everything to conform to the same Windows theme, you may make it do so by selecting the appropriate color choice.
However, Windows Central reports that other configurations are also being examined. Some peripherals allow you to choose the color of the light that appears when you get a notification or when you mute your microphone during a Teams conference, for instance. You might also try audio visualization, which would synchronize the lights with the music playing on your computer. Even though development on this feature has begun, there is no assurance that it will be released any time soon. However, many people would prefer it if the experience of controlling RGB colors was unified. It’s possible that it will be included in a “Moment” update later this year, but it’s too soon to tell for sure.
