Redmi, the subbrand of Xiaomi, has a brand new smartphone in store for the fans: the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ model. The device is on its way to the global market, and we can expect it to sit on more of the stores’ shelves in just a matter of weeks.
Redmi India brings the great news via Twitter that Redmi Note 12 Pro+ has its worldwide release date scheduled for January 5, 2023. Therefore, the New Year won’t even have too much time to make us get used to the fact that 2022 will be gone, as Redmi’s phone launches less than a week after New Year’s Eve!
The main feature of Redmi’s new phone that stands out is, without a doubt, the 200MP camera. Even Samsung’s Galaxy S22 Ultra, meaning the best phone of the South Korean giant’s latest flagship series, is nowhere near Redmi Note 12 Pro+ when it comes to the main camera. The main lens of the S22 Ultra features only 108MP, which means almost two times less than what Redmi’s phone is capable of.

Of course, just like in the case of pretty much any other top smartphone nowadays, Redmi’s forthcoming flagship is also capable of 5G connectivity. But the list of specs has even more interesting features to show to those interested in the phone, so buckle up and let’s cut to the chase!
Powered by the Dimensity 1080 chipset
Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus is powered by the Dimensity 1080 chipset, one that can obtain some pretty interesting scores in Geekbench 5: around 800 points in single-core and roughly 2300 in multi-core. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, by comparison, can score almost twice in those areas, for instance. However, Dimensity 1080 remains a pretty solid chipset.
Redmi’s new phone features a 6.67-inch OLED display of 120Hz for the refresh rate. It has features such as Dolby Vision and HDR10+. That display will showcase photos taken with either the rear or front-facing camera. On its back, the phone packs a triple camera setup having the 200MP wide lens as the main star of the show. There’s also an ultrawide lens of 8MP and a macro lens of 2MP. You can also use the main camera setup to record video in up to 4K@30fps quality.
The selfie camera of the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus consists of a single 16MP wide lens which also features HDR. It can record video in Full HD.
Up to 12GB of RAM
Who would have ever dreamed a decade ago of having 12GB of RAM on a smartphone? It’s now entirely feasible, and grabbing the Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus is one of the ways to grant yourself such a wish. The phone comes in two versions of RAM: 8GB and 12GB. Interestingly enough, there’s just one storage option available: 256GB. There’s no card slot available, either, but there are plenty of websites out there offering cloud storage options if you need more space.
The battery reaches 5,000mAh, which practically means the best option on the market right now. As for the rest of the features, they surely aren’t to be neglected at all. The phone is also having a side-mounted fingerprint, accelerometer, proximity, compass, gyro, and more.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus also comes with Android 12 out of the box, which means that you’ll have some time to wait for the latest Android update to land.
As for information regarding shipping and price for the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus, we will likely have to wait a few weeks more.
