Using the Ray Tracing technique for video games can allow developers to create a much more realistic experience for the user. Games become a lot more vivid as the technology simulates in those virtual worlds how light behaves in the real world.
Therefore, using Ray Tracing for the Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes can also be a good idea, but unfortunately, the fans of these games have some bad news to bear. Back in 2022, Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes, as well as Resident Evil 7 , received the Ray Tracing feature from Capcom. In the meantime, the company decided something else.
Capcom has removed Ray Tracing
According to Exputer, the developer and publisher Capcom decided to remove the Ray Tracing feature from three of its games: the remake versions of Resident Evil 2 and 3, and also from Resident Evil 7. So far, only the PC versions are affected by the change.
The harsh decision, which was applied without even a prior notice from the company, came after users of the games started to complain online about a performance drop, as well as graphics issues. While such problems might have something to do with the Ray Tracing feature, it seems that Capcom decided that it’s best to remove it for good.
To play Resident Evil 3 remake on the PC, you’ll need some interesting specs in order to run the game at maximum settings. It’s recommended to have a graphics card such as NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 or AMD Radeon RX 480 with 3GB VRAM, as well as a processor such as the Intel Core i7-3770 or AMD FX-9590 or better.
Fans of Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes could wait for an official statement from Capcom to explain the decision to remove the Ray Tracing Feature. Such a statement should arrive in a few days, so stay tuned!
