Max Payne is a series of first-person shooters that started way back in 2001, and the scarce possibilities of those times when it came to the graphics area couldn’t make the game even better. That problem will soon go away, however. That’s what game remakes are for.

IGN reveals that Rockstar Games is teaming up with Remedy to remake the very first Max Payne games: the original title released over 20 years ago and the sequel known as Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne. The two companies brought the big announcement themselves, so there’s no room for misinterpretation.

No support for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One

The remakes of the two games will only be available for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X when it comes to consoles. PC gamers will get to play the remakes as well as long as they have the right hardware in their gaming rigs. We’ll gladly keep an eye on the latest news on the subject so we can find out more about the system requirements for those willing to run the games on the PC.

PlayStation 4 and Xbox One users won’t get to run the future remakes on their machines, which was expected. Unfortunately, this is what happens with consoles over time – they become obsolete, regardless of how appreciated they once were.

Sam Houser, the founder of Rockstar, declared:

We were thrilled when our long-time friends at Remedy approached us about remaking the original Max Payne games,

We are massive fans of the work the Remedy team has created over the years and we can’t wait to play these new versions.

The two Max Payne remakes will be developed using the Northlight game engine of Remedy. Since the idea is now in its concept development stage, there’s no word about a release date just yet, but we can expect some news about such insight soon enough.
