At $429, Apple’s iPhone SE 2022 has a significant rivalry with Android smartphones the most notable of which is Samsung’s new Galaxy A53 rival. With a larger screen, a bigger battery, and a more robust camera system, will the A53 be a worthy opponent for the iPhone SE in the fight of mid-cost 5G phones? Take a look at our early assessment.
Colours
The iPhone SE is offered in Midnight, Starlight, and Red, however, the A53 has a calmer approach, using pastel shades such as light blue or ivory, with many more options than Apple. Nevertheless, Samsung’s Galaxy A53 pre-orders in the United States only offer the somber black color option.
Camera
With its one primary camera vs the four-set cameras used by Samsung smartphones, the iPhone SE doesn’t truly rival the Galaxy A53’s superior camera set. Just a pair of those cameras, the 64MP primary and 12MP ultrawide are incredibly powerful for casual photography. Furthermore, the iPhone SE includes a 12MP primary camera with optical picture stabilization on the rear, and it includes all of the technical embellishments that the A15 processors can handle, such as Smart HDR and Photographic Styles filters.
Storage
The iPhone SE (2022) begins at $429 for the same 64GB capacity as its predecessor did for $30 less. Meanwhile, Samsung reduced the Galaxy A53’s cost from last year’s $499 level, and it offers twice the base storage of the SE.
Battery
Apple claims to have improved the battery capacity of the new iPhone SE, but even still, it would merely close the gap to its small phones, but the massive 5000mAh capacity in the A53 could have you buzzing for two days on regular usage.
Performance
The A15 Bionic chip within the iPhone 2022 SE is a powerhouse, particularly given the smartphone’s screen quality. Everything simply zips by, and no one requires extra power in a little phone. The Galaxy A53 also employs a 5nm CPU, Samsung’s latest Exynos 1280, but considering that the most capable chips in the Android world can’t compete with Apple’s best mobile silicon, it would be safe to assume that the SE’s functionality will be much superior to that of the A53.
