We’re days away from the official unveiling of the new Samsung Galaxy S23 series of flagship smartphones. The release will occur during the Galaxy Unpacked event, and now we have another reason to be excited.
Are you tired of adding a case to your smartphone that automatically makes it bulky? It can sure be uncomfortable, indeed! But Samsung now seems to have the right solution for those willing to get an extra amount of comfort while using the forthcoming Samsung Galaxy S23.
How good is Gorilla Glass Victus 2?
The Gorilla Glass Victus 2, an improved shatterproof protection, has been confirmed to be used by Samsung in the upcoming Galaxy S23, according to Corning. The new glass technology can survive a one-meter drop into concrete pavement and 2 meters height on asphalt, with similar scratch resistance to Victus+.
The Galaxy S23 is also expected to feature a “sandwich” glass design, with the front and back protected by the Gorilla Glass Victus 2, similar to the Galaxy S22 and S21.
Stephanie Choi, the chief marketing officer and executive vice president of the Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung, stated:
We’re committed to integrating sustainability throughout our product lifecycle, working with like-minded partners such as Corning to improve performance while reducing our environmental impact,
Our next generation of Galaxy flagship smartphones are the first devices to use Corning® Gorilla® Glass Victus® 2, offering better durability and improved sustainability at the same time.
Another aspect that will make the Samsung Galaxy S23 series stand out is the implementation of the next-gen Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. It will be significantly better than its predecessor and able to grant the new smartphones some outstanding processing speeds.
The official announcement of the Galaxy S23 and the usage of the Gorilla Glass Victus 2 is expected on February 1st during Samsung’s Unpacked event that will take place in San Francisco.
