Shadow and Bone is back for a second season. The trailer shows Alina and the Darkling facing off, but there are also new characters.

Season 2 premiers March 16 with more friendships, significant battles, new romance, epic adventures, and a great family secret that could shock you.
Wondering who are the characters in Season 2?
First, Alina Starkov is an orphaned mapmaker who discovers she is a powerful Grisha and the only person to take down the Shadow Fold. Her friend is Mal Malyen Oretsev, a tracker who grew up with Alina. Both of them are fighting against General Kirigan, known as Darkling, who is the leader of the Second Army.
Season 2 features new characters, including Nikolai Lantsov or Sturmhond and twin Heartrenders Tamar Kir-Bataar and Toyla Yul-Bataar. Also, it will appear a new member Wylan.
Shadow and Bone Season 2 Plot
Alina is ready to take down the Shadow Fold and save Rsvka, but a new army of indestructible shadow monsters backs General Kirigan. To have a chance against him, Alina and Mal must begin a continent-spanning journey to find two supernatural creatures that will amplify their powers.

They have to face the consequences for their actions, and then they get to meet new people along the way. The Grishaverse also expands in this season, both in mythology and in characters.
In the meantime, viewers will visit new locations like Novyi Zem and Shu Han. This upcoming season is different from Bardugo’s trilogy. The characters interact, fighting and laughing with each other, which we never saw in the book.
