In the previous month, EA Maxis displayed a few early photographs from Project Rene, the upcoming version of The Sims, known as The Sims 5. They claimed that the reason they were showcasing the project early was because they wanted the community to be involved in the process of its development.
It would appear that someone has been sneaky and released photographs from a recent playtest of The Sims 5, which reveal what appears to be a city setting with many apartment buildings within it that may be constructed.
In the video that follows, beginning at approximately the 26 minute mark, you may view the formal reveal. The screenshots were originally uploaded to Reddit by a user who has since terminated their account; all of the images are of the same screen while the game is being played.

The screenshots show a number of different interiors, at least one of which represents the same scenario as official footage for Project Rene, as well as peeks of the user interface and tutorial text. The photos that depict an urban area with multi-storey buildings are, however, the most fascinating of the group. This is because The Sims has always reserved this kind of setting for expansion packs, so it’s wonderful to see it included here.
During the playtest, the new building and furniture elements were the primary focal point. It provided you with either four ready-made studio flats or a vacant one in which you could construct whatever you wanted. There were not even any sims present in this scenario at all. The official announcement for Project Rene emphasized on creative tools as well, including new functionality such as the restoration of The Sims 4’s missing Create-A-Style feature, as well as increased flexibility in how you can scale, rotate, and otherwise modify things.
