A recently announced expansion for Streets of Rage 4 will introduce new characters and a new game mode to the 2020 side-scrolling brawler throwback.
The developer of Streets of Rage 4, Dotemu, announced a downloadable expansion for the game, called Mr X Nightmare, which will supposedly introduce more playable characters plus a new Survival mode.
The game was launched last year, and it is a modern entry to the franchise that began and ended in the early 1990s.
The classic Sega franchise was stopped to a halt after the third title was launched in 1994, so the original title fans were pleasantly surprised to learn that Dotemu got the first entry in more than two and a half decades.
Streets of Rage 4 received good reviews at release, successfully bringing the franchise back to life, just when most people thought that it was dead for good.
The new expansion would introduce fresh new content into the colourful beat ’em up. The DLC will add three new characters. Estel Aguirre is the first of the trio to be revealed. Aguirre is a Special Forces police officer and was previously featured as a recurring boss in Streets of Rage 4’s primary campaign.
The developers teased the other two new playable characters, but nothing about them was revealed as of today.
Also, Mr X Nightmare will introduce a new Survival mode to the title, with weekly challenges to keep the experience fresh.
New moves and weapons will also be featured, including a swordfish used to duel with enemies and a fresh, new musical track.
Stay tuned for more news about the updates as they get leaked!
