While Bethesda remains silent regarding the Elder Scrolls 6, past games from the franchise can give gamers an idea of where it may occur on the official universe’s timeline.
Though fans are eager to learn more about the game, Bethesda avoided leaking any information.
As a result, we can only speculate regarding the plot and where the game will take place in the series’ complicated timeline.
One can suppose that in a fantasy title like The Elder Scrolls, the writers can place the game at any point on the timeline.
Though that is technically true, there are a few patterns regarding the franchise’s timeline placement that give us clues.
It is believed that the new Elder Scrolls title will take place after the events of Skyrim.
A closer analysis reveals that all mainline Elder Scrolls titles (numbered games) happen in chronological order. Past games were chronologically close – Skyrim happens 200 years after Oblivion, which occurs six years after Morrowind.
However, some believe that there is a chance that TES 6 will happen around the events of The Elder Scrolls: Online, which takes place many hundreds of years before most Elder Scrolls titles.
That would make it very possible to grow the lore of the series.
They may have multiple ideas for that time period which may not be featured in ESO anytime soon, so they would be great for a standalone game.
Still, some are very firm on the belief that Bethesda will choose to fill the 200-year gap between Oblivion and Skyrim. There are multiple critical events in that period, but that doesn’t mean that others can’t be added.
