Lucasfilm made a significant number of announcements on the future of “Star Wars” during the Star Wars Celebration in London, and by the looks of it, the future is really bright! The incredible news discusses four new shows, including Ahsoka. If the name doesn’t ring any bells for you, here is what you should know. Ahsoka was originally presented to “Star Wars” audiences back in the 2008 animated feature dubbed “Star Wars: The Clone Wars.” Now, that’s something that we all know, recognize, and admire!
The upcoming series will follow Ahsoka Tano, Anakin Skywalker’s cherished Togruta padawan. Following the original story, it is said that Ahsoka quit the Jedi Order before achieving her formal knighthood. Most of the current “Star Wars” stories don’t go into detail about her specific relationship to the other Jedi. So, it’s truly going to be intriguing to see how the story unfolds! Check out the official trailer for Ahsoka below:
Remembering “The Mandalorian (Season 2),” Rosario Dawson made her live-action “Star Wars” debut as Ahsoka. Soon later, a live-action television series starring Dawson was revealed. Dawson told “Rebels” fans that the series will indeed function as a continuation of the animated series at the Ahsoka panel at the Star Wars celebration.
Dawson stated:
It’s going to be really beautiful and revelatory to see the things that can happen when you work in community, when you find those relationships and the people that you can trust.
Hayden Christensen (he originally played Anakin Skywalker in the George Lucas-directed “Star Wars” prequel trilogy) reprises his role as Ahsoka’s instructor. Moreover, the voice of the droid Huyang, David Tennant, alongside other “Rebels” and “Clone Wars” favorites, return. Mary Elizabeth Winstead will play the incredible Hera Syndulla (she also starred in “Rebels”).
The eagerly awaited event is scheduled to debut on Disney+ in August 2023. Also, some great news is that the TV series is going to be produced by Jon Favreau and author Filoni.
