Sad news for The Last Of Us fans. Naughty Dog announced that we won’t get to see a multiplayer version of the game too soon. The developers have just released a statement explaining that The Last Of Us multiplayer will take longer than anticipated. However, they promised to make things up by hinting at an upcoming single-player game.
Here’s an excerpt of Naughty Dog’s announcement on Twitter:
[…] but as development has continued, we’ve realized what is best for the game is to give it more time. Our team will continue to work on the project, as well as our other games in development, including a brand new single-player experience; we look forward to sharing more soon.
Following a Bloomberg story that detailed issues with The Last Of Us’s multiplayer development, Naughty Dog’s announcement was made public. According to the source, the development staff has been reduced while the studio’s management chooses a course of action. This multiplayer project was first planned as a thing for The Last of Us Part II that would be comparable to the multiplayer mode in The Last of Us.
What are your thoughts so far about The Last Of Us’s development?
The Last of Us Part II, the most recent game from Naughty Dog, succeeded in earning widespread praise from critics ( it scored 93 on Metacritic). However, the game still has got players divided. Since The Last Of Us II’s release, Naughty Dog has published The Last of Us Part I, which is an exciting remake of The Last of Us and The Last of Us: Left Behind, as well as the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection.
The Uncharted game features incredible remastered editions of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.
Although Naughty Dog hasn’t said a word about when we’ll hear more about either The Last Of Us’s multiplayer or the single-player project, it actually could be some time before we get something.
