Fans of the new Nintendo Switch game The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom are infuriated by the costs of both the standard and collector’s editions.

This is certainly the biggest game for the Nintendo Switch in 2023 and even one of the biggest overall and it has been getting a lot of hype.

In addition to being a direct sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which is likely one of the greatest games ever, people obviously adore Zelda and Nintendo.

But it appears that the excitement will cost people a bit more than expected. Nintendo has revealed that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is $69.99, the collector’s edition costing $129.99 for the collector’s edition, even though it is a little lacking in comparison to other collector’s edition games.

This piece of news follows the release of a new trailer for the game.

It is a little surprising to see this for Nintendo Switch considering that many publishers started asking $69.99 for their games over the past few years along with the introduction of new systems.

But even so, the internet is enraged right now. Given that the Nintendo Switch is significantly less powerful than other game systems, most people who are outraged are upset by the fact that this game costs $10 more while still being 1080p or below and most likely running at less than 60FPS.

Naturally, that’s intentional, but some people wonder if Nintendo is utilizing the current price trends regardless.

While some are eager to get the collector’s edition, others have complained that it doesn’t provide anything special that justifies spending an extra $60 for.

The only extras are a steelbook, an art book, and a few trinkets.

Additionally, there are reports that Nintendo will release a special edition Nintendo Switch for the game, however, this is not yet official.

With that being said, here are some reactions from fans of the game who took to their Twitter platforms to share their grievances about the price:

“They actually really want an additional $60 for a steelbook, small metal print and 20 page artbook? bro what.” / “RIP $59.99 game prices.” / “There are zero excuses as to why this game’s being priced at $70. Lower framerate and lower resolution. Lmao.” / “Not going to lie, a little bit of a downgrade when compared to the first BOTW collector’s edition….”

Of course, while many seem to be disappointed and outraged, that’s not to say everyone is bothered by the pricing.

Some users, like the one below, think the game is worth it!

“Games like this deserve to get priced at that premium in fairness. This is just generational stuff, just like Elden ring even though it was not priced High.”
