AMATA Games has won gold! The Tale of Onogoro, a VR action adventure game developed by the well known game developing company, took home a couple of really prestigious prizes at the 2023 NYX Game Awards but also at the 27th Annual Webby Awards.
The universe of The Tale of Onogoro is distinctive because it merges steampunk with conventional Japanese society.
As part of the storyline, Japanese high priestess Haru travels alongside the player, proving to be a useful and entertaining companion.
They must work together to solve riddles and fight off enormous “Kami” creatures.
Producer and director Hiromichi Takahashi and the Last Labyrinth production team were the ones who thought of the idea for ‘The Tale of Onogoro.’
Due to its distinctive VR experience, Last Labyrinth won multiple awards at video game and VR events all over the globe.
The Tale of Onogoro is currently moving in the same direction.
On March 17, 2022, this game made its debut on the Meta Quest Store. It was then launched on Steam as well as on the PICO Store, and in December of 2022 it finally got on PlayStation VR.
The game was made available for PSVR2 on February 22 of 2023.
The NYX Game Awards is a global competition that honors creative achievements in the video game sector.
The Tale of Onogoro has now won a Gold Award at the 2023 NYX Game Awards: Season 1 in 2 groups: Meta Quest VR Game (New) – Adventure and Meta Quest VR Game (New) – Indie.
The Webby Awards have also been praised as the “greatest accolade” on the Internet by The New York Times.
The Webby Awards are the premier worldwide awards program celebrating achievement online, and they are presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, also referred to as IADAS.
All that being said, the 27th Annual Webby Awards Game category recognized The Tale of Onogoro as a Webby Honoree for Independent Creator so it was definitely a big honor deserving of celebration.
