Do we remember TomTom? We sure do. It was one of the biggest navigation companies in the entire world. That was before Apple Maps and Google Maps made their appearance and took over. But now, TomTom seems to be determined to take back its place.
TomTom Go Navigation & Traffic app and AmiGo are both good alternatives for our very most popular, especially for those using Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
TomTom has come now with a new update for the Go Navigation, and it comes with great features for the app. Its most recent version is 2.7. It comes with a new route bar to CarPlay, and it’s perfect. It shows your ETA, how much time it takes for you to drive to the destination from your exact location. It also shows you if there are any incidents on the road. It is very easy to read and use.
The navigation is now easier and, somehow, even more similar to its traditional fomat.
What’s great about this update is that it also powers the migration to the latest NDS maps. This comes from TomTom’s tradition to bring new features to CarPlay and iOS – TomTom Go Navigation was one of the very first popular navigation app found on CarPlay – and this happened in June 2019.
The app gets better and better, and, after adding support for the dashboard, it is bound to make a great comeback. One of the following updates has in its plan to allow the app to work with music apps and phone calls side by side.
While Google Maps and Apple Maps are free, TomTom is not. But it does come with an alternative, AmiGo, but this one does not have Apple CarPlay support. The paid version is lit and worth every penny.
