Top Reasons Why We Should Expect Goku Dying in Dragon Ball Super

Goku has a huge fanbase. The Saiyan is still the main character in the Dragon Ball Super Manga, and he’s always up to face a new challenge and become stronger. But even so, we believe that chances are pretty good for Goku to die again soon as he did twice back in the day of the Dragon Ball Z anime.

It’s also true that Goku didn’t suffer ordinary deaths in DBZ. The hero sacrificed himself to save his loved ones and the whole Earth. Goku first sacrificed himself to defeat his evil brother Raditz, who was preparing to destroy the entire world. Goku had to hold Raditz tight from his back so that he can get hit by Piccolo’s Special Beam Cannon. Both Goku and Raditz died, although Piccolo only wanted to take down the evil Saiyan.

The second time when Goku died happened while his son Gohan was battling Cell. Goku was light-years stronger than when he fought Raditz, but he had no other choice than to sacrifice himself once again. Goku teleported Cell to King Kai’s planet when the evil android was preparing to blow himself up and destroy Earth. Cell exploded and killed Goku, but the Earth was saved.

Here’s why we believe that Goku will die again in Dragon Ball Super, either in the manga or when the anime returns:

The Z warriors need to solve things without Goku

Let’s face it: Dragon Ball Super has been revolving too much around Goku and Vegeta. Although it may sound harsh, Goku getting killed would grant the perfect opportunity for other characters to shine and take down some powerful villains. Don’t worry, the Saiyan can be revived later with the dragon balls!

Goku is insanely strong

When Goku achieves his Ultra Instinct form, pretty much nobody can stand in his way. If the Saiyan dies for one reason or another, maybe he’ll get a lot weaker. It’s true that Goku came back stronger after he died in the Dragon Ball Z anime, but judging by how things happened in Super, everything seems possible!

Let’s not forget that Vegeta once said in Dragon Ball Super that he and Goku are approaching the limits of their bodies when it comes to power. That alone should be a good enough reason to believe that the writers could consider making the characters weaker at some point.

Let’s not forget Frieza’s thirst for revenge

Frieza has been obsessed with taking revenge on Goku ever since the Saiyan defeated him on Namek. Later on, Frieza came to Earth in the early episodes of Dragon Ball Super, and Goku was there to stop his diabolical plans once again. Goku killed Frieza with a Kamehameha wave, meaning that the evil tyrant has all the reasons to try doing the same to Goku.

Frieza has been revived at the end of the Tournament of Power arc from Dragon Ball Super after an order issued by Beerus. The event was a gift for Frieza’s participation in the tournament, as he had profoundly important contributions for saving the entire universe. But even so, Frieza announced very clear that he won’t turn away from his diabolical plans. Goku also announced proudly that he’ll be there once again to stop Frieza if needed.

Currently, Goku is far stronger than Frieza, but Dragon Ball never had a problem in matching fighters’ powers if it was necessary.

Goku never died in Dragon Ball Super, and a lot of fans have seen that as major progress of the Dragon Ball franchise. But you know what they say: there’s a first time for everything! We’re fully aware that seeing Goku dying is indeed heart-breaking, but you know how things went in Dragon Ball until now: the mighty Saiyan always found new ways of becoming the best.
