Twitter has been going through some significant changes lately. Elon Musk became the CEO, and you might have heard as well about the new fee for the Twitter Blue service of $8 per month. In this way, a blue checkmark will appear to indicate that a certain user is verified.
It seems that some issues made Twitter employees reconsider their policy a bit. The terms of the social network now require a verified phone number for those who are willing to use Twitter Blue. The Help Center of the social network was very clear on this, as it wrote:
We’re committed to maintaining integrity of accounts on Twitter and making the platform a place people can join and engage safely. Only Twitter accounts created more than 90 days ago can sign up for Twitter Blue. All Twitter Blue subscribers will be required to confirm their phone number as part of sign up. Once subscribed to Twitter Blue, changes to your profile photo, display name, or username (@handle) will result in the loss of the blue checkmark until the account is validated as continuing to meet our requirements, and no further changes will be allowed during this review period.
Twitter Blue was launched on Monday. Users can choose to subscribe on the web for just $8 per month. If they prefer the iOS version, they will have to pay a fee of $11 every month. Such subscriptions will grant them access to premium features, and the blue checkmark is included.
Twitter remains a very popular network, and it will continue likewise for plenty of time. There are more than 229 million people using the service every day. Another interesting fact is that 59.2% of Twitter users are between the ages of 25 to 49 years old.
