Along with his glorious history of a few decades, Super Mario has been seen in many unusual situations. However, we’re pretty sure we haven’t seen him many times as a soccer player. The guys from Next Level Games company thought that it was a good idea to combine both soccer and the legendary Super Mario character in a video game.
The upcoming “Mario Strikers: Battle League” title is coming to the gaming world fast, and it shall be available starting June 10. It will only be available for Nintendo Switch for the moment, which was predictable. Nintendo without Mario is like a wedding without a bride, like Ash without Pikachu, and so on.
Judging by the trailer, the game seems to have something from the Goal 3 game for the classic NES (Nintendo Entertainment System). That old title was also featuring a few boys on a soccer field who were scoring in all sorts of crazy ways. They were also eager to steal the ball from each other in even more unusual ways. Nintendo’s description of the upcoming game kind of confirms the similarity:
Lace up your cleats & prepare to bring the heat in Mario Strikers: Battle League!
Fierce special shots, items, & tackles means there’s no rules except to rule the field! Play with up to 8 players locally & online, and even create your own club when Mario Strikers: Battle League launches on Nintendo Switch June 10th.
We can realistically hope that the new Mario game will become available for other platforms as well in the near future, although, for the moment, there’s no clue for such a change.
What do you think about the upcoming “Mario Strikers: Battle League”? Will you be willing to play it? Do you think it can be a worthy competitor for the FIFA or Pro Evolution Soccer series?
