Both good and bad news for all Miles Morales fans. Creators Phil Lord and Christopher Miller have announced that Miles Morales’ narrative will come to a close in Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. Obviously, there will be tons of mixed feelings, but seeing things end after such an incredible journey could mean the start of something new, right?! We can only hope for the best yet to come.
The directors were recently asked in an interview with Entertainment Tonight if they had always planned for the film series to consist of three parts. The authors claimed they had always known there was more to say and more ground to cover. This was the central element all along, but they didn’t know it until they were far into production on Across the Spider-Verse. Quite impressive!
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has just been released in theaters. The intended release date for Beyond the Spider-Verse is March 29, 2024, but many think the film will be postponed for one reason or another.
What are your thoughts so far about Miles Morales’ character development? What would you like to see in the future?
While Miles’ story will be concluded in the next film, the writers noted that Across the Spider-Verse establishes storylines for a number of other characters, suggesting that the series may continue with a new emphasis.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is a sleek sequel to the 2018 film Spider-Man: Homecoming, in which Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) reunites with Gwen Stacy (Hailee Steinfeld) and is quickly propelled into the Multiverse, where he meets a wide variety of odd yet intriguing characters and new planets (like a lot of other planets). In order to protect the people he cares about most from a new danger, Miles must rethink what it means to be a hero and, of course, risk the wrath of his fellow web slingers.
