WhatsApp is currently pretty generous when it comes to how it lets you customize your status. You can add a simple text, photo, GIF, or even a video there. But surely that’s not enough for some users, and the developers behind the world’s most popular instant messaging app seem to have thought about them once again.
According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is working on a feature to allow users to set a voice message as their status. The update should arrive in beta form for those who prefer running the app on Android phones.
It won’t be difficult at all to find the new feature once it becomes available, either. A new icon resembling a microphone will appear at the bottom of the status tab, and you’ve already guessed what its role shall be! By tapping it, you’ll get to record a voice message in order to set it as your status, which is very similar to how you’re sending a voice message. Since it’s not really convenient for anybody to get to hear your voice, the voice status will only be shared with specific people. You get to choose those persons using the status privacy settings. Just like videos and images, the voice message will be end-to-end encrypted.
Only God knows when the new voice status feature will become available in WhatsApp, which means that users will have no other chance but to try to survive the dreadful wait. But since the feature is already under development, we can’t expect the release to be too far away. We’re guessing that in a few weeks, we’ll all get to update our WhatsApp status using our voice.
Every day across the globe, about 100 billion messages are being sent via WhatsApp, and you usually must be at least 13 years old to use the software.
