If you have any knowledge whatsoever about the Dragon Ball universe, you know very well who Piccolo is. Seen as a key character in Dragon Ball Z and especially in the original Dragon Ball series, Piccolo is the Namekian warrior who was first Goku’s sworn enemy. But later on, the two managed to get along and join forces against powerful foes.
Piccolo is actually the reincarnation of Demon King Piccolo, a very powerful villain who tried to take over the world back in the original Dragon Ball series. However, his diabolical plan was ruined by Goku, who was just a child at that moment. Both Demon King Piccolo and the Piccolo we know from Dragon Ball Z and Super are extremely interesting fighters due to their unique battle moves. Therefore, choosing Piccolo in Dragon Ball games, whether you are into titles such as Dragon Ball FighterZ, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, or others, can be extremely useful. Let’s find out why:
The Hellzone Grenade
The Hellzone Grenade that Piccolo used for the first time during his battle with Android 17 in the Cell Saga of Dragon Ball Z is probably the best move from the Namekian’s arsenal. That’s because this technique consists of a series of energy balls fired intentionally behind the enemy in order to confuse him into thinking that the attacker cannot hit him. But those energy balls will actually surround the enemy perfectly, leaving no chance for him to escape. As you’ve probably already guessed, the next move is to simply hit the enemy with all those surrounding energy balls.
The Special Beam Cannon
The Special Beam Cannon, also known as the Makankosappo, is perhaps the most iconic move of Piccolo. The Namekian used it for the first time when he teamed up with Goku in order to take down Raditz, the evil Saiyan who tried to take over the world in early Dragon Ball Z. The Special Beam Cannon is a technique represented by a powerful beam of energy shot from two fingers at once. It’s so powerful that it can pierce through just about anything, and it has proved its effectiveness very well during the battle with Raditz.
Therefore, using Piccolo’s Special Beam Cannon in Dragon Ball fighting games can make you win a fight earlier than expectted. Just make sure to set your aim and fire!
The stretching maneuvers
Piccolo is able to stretch both his arms and legs a lot during his battles, which can be a great advantage. The Namekian showed this technique for the first time during his battle with Goku at the World Martial Arts Tournament from the latest arc of the original Dragon Ball series, and our Saiyan hero had a lot of trouble during that fight. Piccolo’s stretching abilities can also be used a lot in video games, and the way the Namekian does it in Dragon Ball Z Shin Budokai: Another Road, a game for the PSP console, is especially rewarding. Piccolo can grab an opponent by stretching his arm, lifting him in the air, and ultimately blasting him using an energy wave from his mouth.
Multi-Form
Another one of Piccolo’s interesting battle moves is the Multi-Form technique, which might have been borrowed from Tienshinhan. The technique allows the user to become 4 fighters at once, and it’s something totally different from the classical after-image attack. The Multi-Form technique has a weakness, though: it will automatically split the power of the fighter into 4 equal parts as well, considering that 4 fighters emerge instead of one. But even so, this attack can be highly effective in video games.
Piccolo has a lot of exciting moves in Dragon Ball, which is why choosing the Namekian in video games can be a great deal.
