Will The EA Play Event Disappointment Lead To A Sims 5 Announcement?

EA Play Live 2021 was held a few weeks ago, but the developers didn’t mention anything regarding The Sims 5, much to the disappointment of millions of Sims fans.

The main highlight of the event was partly the Dead Space remake leak, but that didn’t take fans’ attention away from a future Sims title.

EA / Maxis tried to temper the fans’ enthusiasm by publishing a new Sims 4 addon – Cottage Living.

However, that still doesn’t please us, as we just can’t wait to get our hands on a sequel to The Sims 4.

We can’t help but wonder when The Sims 5 will be released. Announcements of such big titles are typically made during essential events of the industry.

The next big event in the gaming world is Gamescom 2021, which starts on August 25, and there is a slight chance that EA / Maxis will at least tease the game during the event.

This year’s Opening Night Live event will be held by Geoff Keighley, and fans will also be met with numerous reveals and updates, which gives us a bit of hope regarding the title.

However, it is still a very long stretch to see The Sims 5 featured at the event. After all, it will take place only a month after the EA Play Live, and that feels a bit too fast for EA to introduce one of their most anticipated games.

Another event will follow, also with the help of Geoff Keighley – The Game Awards, which will happen in December.

The Game Awards has a reputation for being a hectic event, full of reveals and mentions of most genres, so it is more likely that we will see an introduction of a new Sims game then.

But then again, what if it is still too soon?

Unfortunately for us, one of the main reasons why EA / Maxis haven’t yet announced The Sims 5 is… The Sims 4! The game is so successful and popular that it is still a great money maker for the game studios. It simply wouldn’t financially make sense for them to release a new instalment while the current one is doing well.

To wrap it up, we expect to see a Sims-related announcement in the following year or so, but it’s hard to predict a date, so stay tuned for possible leaks/rumours.
