The wait is finally over for those who want to find out for sure what the forthcoming Xiaomi 13 series has to offer to the world. The Chinese manufacturer has unveiled both Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro in China, and each of the two devices is equipped with the brand new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset.
We are now free to take a closer look at the specs of the two new Xiaomi flagships thanks to NOTEBOOKCHECK quoting initial sources from the official website of the company itself. The presence of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 not only represents a natural progression from the previous Snapdragon 8 Gen 1; it’s also the next-generation chipset from Qualcomm and literally the best of what the company has to offer.
Xiaomi 13 features four camera lenses
The standard Xiaomi 13 phone is similar in plenty of ways to the Xiaomi 13 Pro, and not only because of the chipset. Xiaomi 13 is equipped with a triple camera in the front with 50MP for its main and wide lens. This main setup can record video of up to 8K@24fps (HDR). There’s also a 32MP front-facing camera mounted on the phone.
The standard Xiaomi 13 phone is also resistant to water and dust, as it features IP68-rated protection. Surprisingly, there’s no card slot available, but you probably won’t even need one since the phone comes in up to 512GB of storage space. The Xiaomi 13 is also generous enough when it comes to the RAM area, as it packs 8/12GB.
The display is small but powerful enough to allow you to enjoy many of the tasks you can usually run on a smartphone. The device sports a 6.36-inches OLED display that features a 120Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, as well as 1900 nits for its peak brightness.
It’s great to see that Xiaomi also hasn’t neglected the battery part when it comes to its new flagship series. The standard Xiaomi 13 features a 4500mAh battery.
If you want to have the standard Xiaomi 13 in your pocket, you’ll need to spend around 550 euros.
Xiaomi 13 Pro: a much larger display
The display of the Xiaomi 13 Pro is significantly larger compared to the one mounted on its sibling. The Pro variant flaunts a 6.73-inch LTPO OLED display, while the rest of the specs in this area are pretty much the same as in the case of the standard Xiaomi 13. The refresh rate reaches 120Hz, while there’s also Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and 1,900 nits for the peak brightness.
The cameras of the Pro version of Xiaomi 13 are also more impressive compared to what the standard Xiaomi 13 has to offer. That’s because all three of the camera lenses mounted on the rear reach 50MP each, while the maximum video recording capacity reaches 8K@24fps (HDR). There’s also a wide lens mounted in the front as the selfie camera, and it reaches 32MP. This latter camera can only record video in Full HD.
Of course, IP68-rated water and dust protection are also available on the Xiaomi 13 Pro. There’s no card slot present here as well, while the RAM memory can reach a maximum of 12GB. Three versions of storage are also available: 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB.
Other impressive features of the Pro version of Xiaomi’s new flagship lineup are fingerprint (under display, optical), barometer, accelerometer, gyro, compass, proximity, and color spectrum.
Getting your hands on the Xiaomi 13 Pro certainly won’t be for everybody, as the phone costs around 700 euros. However, it’s still a pretty low price for a flagship of its kind.
Both Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro come with Android 13 out of the box, which means that you won’t have to wait to get the latest Android version on such phones.
