Paying with a credit card has surely become a new standard in recent years, without even counting the pandemic times. But even so, the payments need to be as simple as possible.
If you’re a grumpy fellow who rarely smiles, you should surely start working on it right away! Not just because it relieves stress and favors social interactions. It will also soon be the new way of paying using a credit card from Mastercard.
The first pilot launches in Brazil this week
TechZimo.com brings the news about the new way of paying that Mastercard users can apply for shortly. Therefore, the Mastercard biometric checkout will allow users to make their payments by simply smiling.
Users will get to choose to pay either by using their face or their fingers. The first people to get to try out the new system are residents of Brazil: at the supermarket chain St. Marche and the local start-up Payface.
The new biometric payment system works in a very friendly way. Users will have the chance to pay by simply waving their hand over the reader or simply smiling at checkout towards a camera.
Ajay Bhalla, who is president, Cyber & Intelligence at Mastercard, said:
The way we pay needs to keep pace with the way we live, work and do business, offering choice to consumers with the highest levels of security,
Our goal with this new program is to make shopping a great experience for consumers and merchants alike, providing the best of both security and convenience.
Ultimately, perhaps the biggest challenge will be to smile while you have to make an expensive payment. Perhaps those working on Mastercard should have thought about this aspect as well!
